Round marble sink with a honed surface

The surface is honed; it gives a matte look, reflects little light and shows scratches and wear marks less than polished stone. The bowl descends with a smooth slope from its rim toward the drain hole. Because marble is a natural material, the position and density of the veining vary from piece to piece; the patterns of two sinks are never exactly the same.

Protecting the vessel sink against water and limescale

Marble is a porous stone; on a piece that comes into contact with water every day, such as a sink, sealer is applied and renewed at regular intervals. Trying to remove limescale that builds up around the faucet with an acidic remover leaves marks on the stone, and lemon and vinegar have the same effect. A pH-neutral cleaner is sufficient for daily cleaning; products containing acid leave marks on the honed surface too.
