Using glossy herringbone as a backsplash and in the shower
The kitchen backsplash and indoor walls are among the places of use for this mosaic; the polished surface brings out the color and veining of the stone. Shower walls and floors, and indoor floors in homes and commercial spaces, are also covered. Polished stone can be slippery when wet; the dense grout lines help with grip on wet floors. It is not used on exterior facades or terraces. Other glossy surfaces are on the polished stones page.
Watch out for acid marks on polished mosaic
With 0.08 m² per sheet, around 10 sheets are needed per square meter; a cutting allowance is added separately. On glossy marble, marks left by lemon, vinegar or limescale remover stand out more than on a matte surface; use a pH-neutral product for cleaning. The porous stone is protected with sealer, and this protection is renewed over time. White adhesive is preferred for white stone. Since there are many grout lines, the grout color significantly affects the look. For other patterns, see the marble mosaics page.
