Kitchen

In the kitchen, the covering faces oil, steam and frequent cleaning. Easy-to-wipe surfaces stand out for the backsplash, and matte surfaces that grip when wet stand out for the floor. In this collection we have brought together tiles and mosaics that can be used in the kitchen; you can plan here how they will match your cabinet color. In demanding spots such as behind the stove and the backsplash, non-porous surfaces make your job easier.

How to choose a surface for the kitchen

The most demanding surface in the kitchen is the backsplash: grease splashes, steam condenses, and it is wiped many times a day. In this area, a non-porous or well-protected surface makes your job easier. On the floor the issue is different; because of water and oil drops, a matte surface that grips when wet is safer.

Surface comparison for backsplashes

  • Glazed ceramic and porcelain: Non-porous, does not absorb grease, unaffected by acidic cleaners. The lowest-maintenance option.
  • Polished natural stone: Wipes clean easily and reflects light, but requires sealing. Acids such as lemon and vinegar can leave dull marks.
  • Honed natural stone: Looks matte and calm. Sealing maintenance is important; spilled oil must be wiped up without delay.

Harmony with the cabinet color

Since the backsplash is a narrow band between the cabinets and the countertop, the color decision is made here. If the cabinets are plain, a patterned or textured backsplash adds character to the space. If the cabinets are already colored or patterned, keeping the backsplash calm and close to the cabinet tone maintains balance. Requesting a sample and seeing the piece next to your cabinet is the most reliable method.

Grout color

In the kitchen, light-colored grout gets dirty more quickly due to grease and steam. A medium gray or beige close to the tile tone both hides stains and makes the surface look unified. In formats such as white subway tile, contrasting grout is a deliberate design choice; keep in mind that cleanliness will be more visible.

Box calculation and waste allowance

Range hood and behind the stove

The area behind the stove is the spot in the kitchen that sees the most heat and grease. Using a non-porous surface here makes cleaning noticeably easier. Textured and deeply fluted surfaces are not preferred behind the stove because they trap grease; using the same patterned product on other parts of the backsplash and leaving the area behind the stove plain is a practical solution.

Tiles are priced per square meter and sold in boxes; mosaic sheets, borders and accessories are priced per piece. Enter the square meters you need in the calculator on the product page; it finds how many boxes you need and adds the waste allowance. The allowance we recommend is between 10 and 15 percent.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tezgah arası için hangi yüzeyi seçmeliyim?

En az bakım isteyen seçenek sırlı seramik ve porselendir; yağı içine almaz, asitli temizleyiciden etkilenmez. Doğal taş tercih ederseniz emprenye uygulayın ve dökülen asitli sıvıyı beklemeden alın.

Mutfak zemininde parlak karo kullanabilir miyim?
